Technotrans Brings Refrigerant-Free Peltier Cooling and R290 Chillers to Analytica 2026

Technotrans debuts compressor-free Peltier coolers and R290 PRO300 chillers with ±0.1 K stability for lab analytics, ahead of Analytica 2026 in Munich.

Features

  • PRO300 chiller series uses natural refrigerant R290 (propane) with a Global Warming Potential of 0.02.
  • PRO300 systems specify temperature stability of less than ±0.1 Kelvin for laser and analytical applications.
  • New Peltier cooling systems operate without refrigerant circuits or compressors, eliminating vibration and noise.
  • Launch platform is Analytica 2026 in Munich.
  • Product lines support technotrans' 'Ready for Growth 2030' strategy targeting healthcare and analytics markets.

Technotrans will present two thermal management lines at Analytica 2026 in Munich: Peltier cooling systems that run entirely without refrigerant circuits or compressors, and an expanded PRO300 chiller series built around R290 (propane), a natural refrigerant with a Global Warming Potential of 0.02. Both lines target laboratory and analytical instrumentation, where thermal stability and mechanical quietness directly affect measurement quality.

The Peltier systems address a constraint that compressor-based coolers impose on sensitive instruments: vibration. Microscopy, spectroscopy and high-performance liquid chromatography all degrade when the cooling unit transmits mechanical noise into the optical path or the separation column. Because a Peltier element moves heat through a semiconductor junction under an applied DC voltage, the design contains no moving parts at all — no compressor, no circulating refrigerant, no pump-induced vibration. The company positions this as silent cooling for measurement environments where both vibration and acoustic emissions matter.

The PRO300 chiller series takes the conventional vapor-compression route but switches the working fluid to R290. The stated temperature stability is less than ±0.1 Kelvin, a figure aimed at demanding laser and analytical applications where waste-heat loads fluctuate and the coolant loop must hold setpoint tightly.

Why the refrigerant choice matters

The R290 specification is a compliance decision as much as an engineering one. European F-Gas Regulation phase-downs and the US AIM Act both push manufacturers away from high-GWP hydrofluorocarbons. R290's GWP of 0.02 sits orders of magnitude below common HFC refrigerants, which means the PRO300 units meet future regulatory requirements in Europe and the US by design rather than retrofit. For laboratory planners specifying equipment on a 10-year horizon, refrigerant availability has become a purchasing criterion in its own right.

What does the Peltier range include?

The new portfolio spans several form factors:

  • Compact stand-alone units for bench-top deployment
  • Integrable modules sized for minimal installation space inside OEM instruments
  • Miniature compressor solutions where the application demands high cooling capacity in a small footprint

The company claims fast response times and direct adjustment of cooling capacity — a property inherent to Peltier elements, since the heat pump rate scales with drive current and reacts within milliseconds rather than through a compressor duty cycle. Note that response-time and stability figures come from the vendor; the release does not publish test conditions.

A direct quote from the business side

Denis Roessel, business development manager at technotrans systems GmbH, framed the offering as a planning question for instrument makers: "In analytics and laboratory technology, precise temperatures are essential for reliable results. With our solutions, we provide users and OEM manufacturers with planning reliability: depending on the application, we combine highly precise temperature stability with future-proof Peltier technology or natural refrigerants."

Roessel also described the integration support model: "The Peltier principle enables an extremely fast response time and direct adjustment of the cooling capacity. We support our customers from the initial problem definition through to the integration of the modules directly into the analytical device."

That end-to-end engagement signals the primary audience: OEM instrument manufacturers embedding thermal management into analytical devices, not only end-user labs buying chillers off the shelf.

Integration and strategy context

The PRO300 series features modern communication interfaces and flexible integration into existing laboratory infrastructures, according to the company — relevant where chillers must report status to building monitoring or instrument control software.

The product lines sit under technotrans' "Ready for Growth 2030" corporate strategy, which names healthcare and analytics as a focus market. The company states it will apply its engineering expertise to the precision and purity standards that medical progress and bioanalytics applications demand.

The open question for buyers

For lab managers and OEM engineers attending Analytica 2026, the concrete question is whether refrigerant-free Peltier cooling delivers sufficient cooling capacity for their heat loads — or whether the R290 chiller path, with its flammable-class refrigerant handling requirements, fits their installation and regulatory environment. Technotrans will show both at the Munich fair.
