InnovMetric has launched MasterKey by PolyWorks, a customer success program that formalizes the support, training, and software-update services its customers already receive — and every new PolyWorks customer gets the first year at no charge.

The launch changes no metrology specifications. It changes the commercial identity of a services layer that InnovMetric claims has run for more than 30 years. Today that layer includes more than 200 PolyWorks application specialists working across 43 countries, plus the MyPolyWorks digital portal, which delivers on-demand expertise, training, and support in 14 languages.

"For years, our customers have benefited from these services as part of their software experience. Today, with the introduction of MasterKey by PolyWorks, we are giving this proven offering a clear identity that reflects its strategic value as well as the important role it plays in enabling manufacturers to maintain peak performance, productivity, and competitiveness," said Erik Nadeau, Vice President of Technical Expertise at InnovMetric.

What does MasterKey actually contain?

The program rests on three pillars.

  • Support Access. Direct access to PolyWorks application specialists for technical challenges, described by InnovMetric as extending beyond troubleshooting into process improvement and faster results. An AI assistant is available 24/7 through the MyPolyWorks portal, answering questions and pointing to practical knowledge resources.
  • Skill Development. Training delivered online, on site, or at a dedicated training center, supplemented by a self-paced library of articles, tutorials, videos, and macros on MyPolyWorks.
  • Software Evolution. Regular software improvements distributed through the MyPolyWorks portal — new plug-ins, performance enhancements, and technology updates intended to keep teams current with digital manufacturing practice.

"The core promise of our customer success program is to help manufacturing organizations build high-performing dimensional inspection teams that can adapt more quickly, work more efficiently, and continuously deliver greater value for their business," Nadeau said.

Who gets it, and on what terms?

Every new PolyWorks customer receives a complimentary first year of MasterKey with the purchase. "To ensure they can get the most value out of the software from the start, every new PolyWorks customer receives a complimentary year of MasterKey by PolyWorks with their purchase," Nadeau highlighted. The intent, per InnovMetric, is faster return on investment through immediate access to expertise, learning resources, and software updates.

Existing customers under a support and maintenance contract transition automatically. No action is required on their part.

What do users report from the support organization?

InnovMetric paired the announcement with customer statements that sketch how the support layer performs in practice — measured in schedule terms rather than accuracy terms.

Jeff Van Horn, Senior Engineer and Founder of Industrial Technology Solutions, described a support case that turned into a live exercise: "We called PolyWorks technical support and asked when we could get some assistance. The response, from a real person, was that they were in a conference with about 40 support specialists, but would love to put it up on the screen and use it as a live exercise. With the client's approval, we shared the data. The insights we received enabled the steel fabricator to deliver the project two months ahead of schedule."

Josh Mickelson, Sr. Quality Engineering Manager at Doosan Bobcat North America, framed the relationship bluntly: "They're not just about improving their product. They're there to solve my problems. They're there to solve customer problems."

And Dave Leone, Senior Director, Engineering – Dimensional Control at GE Appliances, pointed to the two-way development channel: "Whether it be through PolyWorks|DataLoop, PolyWorks|Inspector, or custom integration, InnovMetric helped us push our processes and we help them drive the development of the software."

Measured claims versus positioning

Note what is vendor claim here and what is not. The 200 specialists, 43 countries, 14 portal languages, and 30-year support history are InnovMetric's own figures, offered without independent verification. The two-months-ahead-of-schedule outcome comes from a customer statement, not a documented case study with test conditions. No pricing, renewal terms, or contract structure for MasterKey after the first year appears in the announcement, so budget owners should treat the complimentary year as the only concrete commercial fact published so far.

Does packaging change the buying decision?

For metrology teams already running PolyWorks|Inspector or PolyWorks|DataLoop in production inspection workflows, the practical question is narrow: whether the automatic transition from a standard support-and-maintenance contract to MasterKey alters entitlements, response paths, or costs at renewal. For teams evaluating 3D metrology software platforms, the development raises a broader procurement question — how much weight to give the services layer (training depth, specialist availability in 43 countries, AI-assisted self-service) against pure measurement capability when the software itself is unchanged. InnovMetric is betting the services layer is a differentiator. Buyers will now see it priced and packaged as one.
